Blountville is a place called the census site and has seen many films such as "The Wizard of Oz," "Citizen Kane" and "Star Wars." In the Tennessee State Senate, Sullivan County and part of Kingsport are represented by the 4th Senatorial District (8th District) in the 5th Senate District and Sullivan County and Sullivan City District Jonesboro, Tennessee. Sullivan Counties, as well as parts of Knoxville and Knox County, are represented in the Tennessee House of Representatives by Sullivan County parts of Kingsport in both the 2nd and 3rd senates.

The Franklin Track Club of the state is located in the town of Franklin, Tennessee, south of Knoxville and part of Kingsport. Tennessee State Athletics Club, the largest athletics club in the country, was founded in Jonesboro and is located at Franklin High School Athletics Center in Franklin.

Stateline Drive - in Kingsport, appropriately named, is located on the east side of the state line between Knoxville and the Tennessee River. On the right as you drive west, there is a sign and on the left is a sign with the name Jonesboro High School, the oldest school in town.

It was here that Bristol - Blountville, which opened in 1952 and closed in the 1980s, became one of the most popular cinemas in Tennessee.
